The Portus is a classic cut saddle loafer in Brown pull-up calf. A self-coloured storm welt, full natural calf lining and insole, suede heel counter and full rubber studded sole combine slip-on ease with everyday durability, from the office through to summer evenings.

When to wear them

Office and business wear. Pairs well with chinos and tailored trousers in smart-casual and relaxed office dress codes.

Weekends and casual. A natural summer shoe, worn sockless or with invisible socks alongside chinos, shorts or lightweight trousers.

Smart events. Suits garden parties, summer lunches and casual weddings when paired with tailoring. For formal dress codes, a lace-up is the better choice.

Not formal enough for. Formal business dress, black tie and white tie.
How they fit

Order your everyday UK size. Order the same UK size you wear in most leather footwear. If you normally wear a half size in other brands, choose the full size above, for example UK 9.5 elsewhere means UK 10 here.

Snug at first is correct. The natural calf leather lining will soften and bed in over the first few wears. Some initial snugness across the forefoot is expected and normal.

Wide forefoot or high instep? Consider ordering one full size above your usual size. The leather will mould with wear but does not stretch significantly across the width.

Full UK sizes only. This style is stocked in full UK sizes 6 to 12; no half sizes are available.

Care Instructions

Pull-up calf (Brown). Brush after each wear with a horsehair brush to remove surface dust. Light scuffs and creases are characteristic of pull-up calf; most marks can be softened by rubbing the area gently with your fingers or a soft cloth so the oils and waxes in the leather redistribute. Condition sparingly with a neutral leather cream every few weeks. Avoid heavy wax polish, which can dull the pull-up finish.

Storage. Insert cedar shoe trees after wearing to hold the shape and draw out moisture, and allow at least 24 hours between wears. Store away from direct heat and sunlight.
