True to Size
Most John White shoes run true to standard UK sizing. If you are between sizes, we recommend sizing up.

Width & Fit
Standard fitting across the range. Select styles are available in a wide fit — check individual product pages for details.
How to Measure
-
Stand on paper Place a sheet of paper against a wall. Stand on it with your heel touching the wall, wearing the socks you would normally wear with shoes.
-
Mark your longest toe Use a pen to mark the tip of your longest toe. Repeat for both feet — one foot is often slightly longer.
-
Measure the length Measure from the edge of the paper (your heel) to the mark in millimetres. Use the larger measurement.
-
Find your size Match your foot length to the chart above. If your measurement falls between two sizes, choose the larger one for the most comfortable fit.
Common Questions
Do John White shoes run true to size?
Yes. Our shoes are crafted on traditional British lasts and run true to standard UK sizing. If you normally wear a UK 9, a John White UK 9 should fit well. Customers who are between sizes generally find sizing up more comfortable.
Do you offer half sizes?
Our current range is available in whole UK sizes only, from 6 to 13. If you typically wear a half size, we recommend choosing the next whole size up.
Are wide-fit options available?
Select styles in our collection are available in a wider fitting. These are clearly marked on the individual product pages. Our standard fit is comfortable for most foot widths.
Will the leather stretch over time?
Quality leather will soften and mould to your foot with wear. If a pair feels slightly snug at first, the leather will give over the first few wears and conform to your shape. We would not recommend sizing up for this reason alone.
What if my size does not fit?
We offer free returns within 30 days of delivery. If your shoes do not fit, return them in their original condition for a full refund or exchange. See our returns policy for details.
How do I convert my US or European size to UK?
Use the conversion chart above. As a general rule: subtract 1 from your US size to get your UK size (US 10 = UK 9). For European sizes, subtract approximately 33 from your EU size (EU 43 = roughly UK 9). For the most accurate result, measure your foot length in millimetres and match it to the chart.
