Weekends and casual. The slip-on beef-roll design is at its most natural here. Wear with rolled chinos, slim jeans or lightweight trousers for an effortless warm-weather or weekend look in both Black and Brown.

Formal events. Suitable for smart-casual events, relaxed weddings or garden parties where a loafer is acceptable. The Black reads more formal; Brown suits less structured occasions.

Not formal enough for. Black-tie, morning dress, or any occasion requiring a laced Oxford or Derby. The loafer silhouette and rubber sole place this firmly in smart-casual territory.

Order your everyday UK size. The Downey runs true to size. The full leather lining and suede heel counter hold the foot securely, so your standard UK size is the correct starting point.

Snug at first is correct. Polished calf leather will ease and conform to the foot over the first several wears. A snug but not uncomfortable fit on first wear is expected and correct.

Stay at your everyday UK size if. Your foot is of standard width and you find true-to-size loafers comfortable. The leather lining and suede heel counter provide a secure hold without pinching.

All sizes are full UK sizes — we do not stock half sizes. If you normally wear a UK 7.5 or any other half size in other brands, choose the full size above — UK 8. The leather will ease in naturally with wear.

After each wear. Brush with a horsehair brush to remove surface dust and dirt. This takes 30 seconds and prevents grime building up in the leather grain. Insert cedar shoe trees immediately to absorb moisture, hold the shoe's shape, and prevent creasing.

Every 3–4 wears. Wipe down with a slightly damp cloth and allow to dry naturally at room temperature — never use direct heat. Apply a thin layer of leather conditioner to keep the calf leather supple. Follow with a colour-matched wax polish (JW Premium Wax Polish recommended) using small circular motions; allow to haze for 10 minutes, then buff with a horsehair brush and soft cloth for shine.

Storage and rotation. Rotate your shoes and allow at least 24 hours between wears. Store with cedar shoe trees in place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
