Order one UK size down. The Ethan is cut on a generous last. Most wearers find their everyday size too roomy, order one UK size down for a comfortable, secure fit.

Snug at first is correct. Tumbled grain calf leather softens and moulds with wear. A snug fit when new is expected and will ease to a comfortable hold within a few outings.

Wide forefoot or high instep? If you have a particularly wide forefoot or high instep, consider staying at your everyday UK size rather than sizing down, to allow comfortable entry and avoid undue tightness.

All sizes are full UK sizes; we do not stock half sizes. If you normally wear a UK 8.5 in other brands, order UK 8 in the Ethan (the generous last means the UK 8 will accommodate you well). If you wear a UK 9.5 elsewhere, order UK 9.

After each wear. Brush with a horsehair brush to remove surface dust from the textured grain. The tumbled finish is naturally forgiving with minor scuffs, but regular brushing keeps the leather looking its best. Insert cedar shoe trees after every wear.

Every 3–4 wears. Wipe with a damp cloth and allow to dry naturally away from direct heat. Apply a leather conditioner using circular motions, working it into the grain texture. A neutral or colour-matched wax polish may be applied lightly for protection, tumbled grain leather suits a natural, low-shine finish rather than a high polish. Buff gently with a soft cloth.

Storage and rotation. Allow at least 24 hours between wears to let the leather dry fully. Rotate pairs regularly and store on shoe trees to maintain shape.
