The Monkton Double Monk
All the polish of an Oxford, fastened once with a buckle and then simply worn. In brown or black calf.
What you are actually buying in the Monkton
John White has been putting men in proper shoes since 1919. The double monk is the quiet expert's choice: the formality of a capped Oxford with none of the morning ritual.

Formal, without the laces
A plain, polished calf upper kept deliberately clean, so the two gun-metal buckles do all the talking. It sits naturally with a suit, sharpens a pair of chinos, and goes on and off at the door without a second thought.

Comfort that is engineered, not promised
A full leather lining and a leather insole with a ribbon edge let the shoe breathe and mould to you, with a suede heel counter that holds the foot without rubbing. Underneath, an island-stitched studded rubber sole grips a wet pavement that would send a leather sole skating.

Brown for most days, black for the sharpest ones
The brown calf works the widest room, from flannel to denim. The black is the boardroom and black-tie option, and the same shoe underneath. Both run in every size from UK 7 to 12.
