Broad Derby Shoes

Office and business wear. The capped toe and polished calf leather upper sit naturally within a professional dress code. Pairs well with tailored trousers and a suit in both Black and Brown.

Weekends and casual. The Derby silhouette and rubber sole make the Broad a reasonable choice for smarter casual outings, a blazer and dark chinos, for instance.

Formal events. Appropriate for weddings, graduations, and formal dinners. The Black colourway is the cleaner choice for black-tie-adjacent events; Brown works well for daytime formal occasions.

Not formal enough for. White-tie dress codes or occasions requiring patent leather. The rubber sole, while discreet, is not a leather dress sole.

Order your everyday UK size. The Broad runs true to standard UK sizing. No adjustment needed from your usual size.

Snug at first is correct. Polished calf leather will ease and conform with wear. A snug but not painful fit at first is normal and expected.

Wide forefoot or high instep? The Broad is designed as an extra-width fitting, so if you typically size up in standard-width shoes to accommodate a wider foot, order your usual size here.

All sizes are full UK sizes; we do not stock half sizes. If you normally wear a half size in other brands, for example a UK 9½, choose the full size above (UK 10). The extra-width fitting gives additional accommodation.

Upper: Polished calf leather, available in Black and Brown. Takes a shine well and develops character with wear.
Lining: Leather lining throughout, with a suede-backed heel counter to reduce friction.
Insole: Cushioned ribbon-edge insole.
Sole: Lightweight rubber sole for grip and shock absorption.
Branding: Discreet John White branding on the heel sock and sole waist.
Construction: Designed by JWS to its own specification, built for comfort and longevity.
Fit: Extra-wide fit. True to standard UK sizing, no size adjustment required.

After each wear. Brush with a horsehair brush to remove surface dust and dirt. This takes 30 seconds and prevents grime building up in the leather grain.

Every 3–4 wears. Wipe down with a slightly damp cloth and allow to dry naturally at room temperature. Apply a thin layer of leather conditioner to keep the leather supple. Never use direct heat to dry leather shoes. Polish with a colour-matched wax polish, Black or Brown as appropriate, using small circular motions. Allow to haze for 10 minutes, then buff with a horsehair brush and a soft cloth for shine.

Storage and rotation. Insert cedar shoe trees immediately after wearing to absorb moisture, hold the shoe's shape, and prevent creasing. Rotate your shoes and allow at least 24 hours between wears.
