Weddings, christenings, formal dinners. The semi-brogue detailing keeps the Lucan more characterful than a plain Oxford while staying squarely in the smart register. Tan works best at daytime and outdoor occasions.

Day-to-day smart wear. Pair with tailored trousers, dark denim, or wool trousers for restaurant dinners, theatre, or smart weekend wear.

Not formal enough for: black tie, morning dress, or royal-occasion dress codes. Those want a plain-toe black Oxford.

The Lucan fits true to size. Order your everyday UK size. The full calf leather lining will soften and mould to the foot over the first few wears.

Snug at first is normal. Polished calf softens with wear but does not stretch significantly. Expect a slightly close fit on day one that eases in over the first week.

Wide forefoot or high instep? Stay at your everyday size and allow the leather to ease in, the Lucan accommodates moderate width once broken in. The fit will not loosen dramatically, but it will mould.

All sizes are full UK sizes; we do not stock half sizes. If you usually wear a half size in other brands (UK 9.5 in a trainer), choose the full size above (UK 10) in the Lucan and allow the lining to mould.

Fit: True to size, order your everyday UK size. Full UK sizes only (UK 6–13). Imperfect stock: new and unworn, minor cosmetic blemish only, structural integrity unaffected.

After each wear: Brush with a horsehair brush to remove surface dust and prevent grime building up in the leather grain.

Every 3–4 wears: Wipe with a slightly damp cloth, let dry naturally at room temperature, then apply a thin layer of leather conditioner to keep the calf supple. Polish with a colour-matched wax polish (JW Premium Wax Polish works well) using small circular motions. Allow to haze for 10 minutes, then buff to a shine with a horsehair brush and soft cloth.

Storage and rotation: Insert cedar shoe trees immediately after wearing to absorb moisture and hold shape. Allow at least 24 hours between wears, and rotate between at least two pairs to double their working life. Never dry with direct heat; it cracks the leather.
