Weekends and casual. Worn with chinos or dark denim, the Wilms carries its formality lightly — smart without being overdressed.

Formal events. Appropriate for weddings, civic occasions, and black-tie-adjacent events where a plain Derby is the correct choice. The Black variant is the more formal option.

Not formal enough for. White-tie dress codes, where a patent Oxford is required. Not suited to outdoor or heavy-duty use despite the rubber sole.

Order your everyday UK size. The Wilms runs true to size across the range. Order the UK size you wear in most dress shoes.

Snug at first is correct. The full leather lining will soften and bed in over the first several wears, improving the fit as the shoe adjusts to your foot.

Wide forefoot or high instep? If you have a notably wide foot, consider ordering UK 1 size up for a more comfortable fit through the forefoot.

All sizes are full UK sizes — we do not stock half sizes. If you normally wear a half size in other brands — for example a UK 9.5 — choose the full size above (UK 10) for the Wilms.

Fit: True to size. Full UK sizes only (UK 6–13). No half sizes stocked.

After each wear. Brush with a horsehair brush to remove surface dust and dirt. This takes 30 seconds and prevents grime building up in the leather grain.

Every 3–4 wears. Wipe down with a slightly damp cloth and allow to dry naturally at room temperature. Apply a thin layer of leather conditioner to keep the leather supple. Never use direct heat to dry leather shoes. Polish with a colour-matched wax polish — we recommend JW Premium Wax Polish — using small circular motions. Allow to haze for 10 minutes, then buff with a horsehair brush and a soft cloth for shine.

Storage and rotation. Insert cedar shoe trees immediately after wearing to absorb moisture, hold shape, and prevent creasing. Rotate your shoes and allow at least 24 hours between wears.
