Snug at first is correct. The natural calf leather lining will soften and bed in over the first few wears. Some initial snugness across the forefoot is expected and normal.

Wide forefoot or high instep? Consider ordering one full size above your usual size. The leather will mould with wear but does not stretch significantly across the width.

Calf suede (Brown Suede, Cognac Suede). Apply a suede protector spray before first wear and every few weeks thereafter. Brush regularly with a suede brush to lift the nap, and use a suede eraser for marks. Never use wax polish or leather conditioner on suede.

Wet weather. The Vibram sole handles wet ground well, but suede uppers benefit from a fresh coat of protector spray before wet spells. Allow wet suede to dry naturally away from heat, then brush to restore the nap.

Storage. Insert cedar shoe trees after wearing to hold the shape and draw out moisture, and allow at least 24 hours between wears. Store away from direct heat and sunlight.
