Weekends and casual. Where a brogue boot is happiest. The punched detailing suits denim, cord and heavier autumn cloth.

Office and business wear. Works with chinos and soft tailoring in relaxed and business-casual offices. Black is the sharpest of the three.

Smart events. A strong choice for country weddings and relaxed dress codes. For sharper occasions, a plain Oxford is the conventional pick.

Not formal enough for. Black tie, white tie and formal morning dress.

Order your everyday UK size. Order the same UK size you wear in most leather footwear. If you normally wear a half size in other brands, choose the full size above, for example UK 9.5 elsewhere means UK 10 here.

Snug at first is correct. The natural calf leather lining will soften and bed in over the first few wears. Some initial snugness across the forefoot is expected and normal.

Wide forefoot or high instep? Consider ordering one full size above your usual size. The leather will mould with wear but does not stretch significantly across the width.

Fit: True to size. Seven eyelets allow the fit to be adjusted through the ankle. Full UK sizes 6 to 12 only.

Full grain calf (Black, Brown, Tan). Brush after each wear with a horsehair brush, working along the grain. Every three to four wears, wipe with a slightly damp cloth, allow to dry naturally, then apply a thin layer of leather conditioner followed by a colour-matched wax polish, such as JW Premium Wax Polish. The textured surface takes cream polishes especially well. Work the brush into the brogue punching so polish does not build up in the holes.

Storage. Insert cedar shoe trees after wearing to hold the shape and draw out moisture, and allow at least 24 hours between wears. Store away from direct heat and sunlight.
