The Hill Chelsea Suede Boot delivers a classic elastic-sided silhouette in calf suede, with 2.5-inch gussets and woven pull loops for easy entry. Available in Brown Suede and Cognac Suede, both offering a softer, textured alternative to smooth leather.

Well-suited to smart-casual and relaxed office wear, and capable of holding its own at less formal weddings and events.

When to wear them

Office and business wear. Works well in smart-casual office environments. Pair Brown or Cognac Suede with chinos, moleskins, or tailored trousers and a jacket. The studded rubber sole handles daily commuting without compromising the boot's cleaner lines.

Weekends and casual. The suede finish makes this the more relaxed Hill variant. Both colourways sit well with denim, cord, or casual trousers. Cognac Suede adds a warmer tone for autumn and winter; Brown Suede reads as the more versatile year-round option.

Formal events. The clean Chelsea silhouette and storm welt construction give the Hill enough polish for smart weddings or evening events when worn with tailored trousers. Suede is a shade less formal than smooth calf leather, bear that in mind for black-tie contexts.

Not formal enough for. Black-tie or white-tie occasions where a polished leather Oxford or Derby would be expected. The suede finish and studded rubber sole place this boot firmly in smart-casual territory rather than the most formal end of the dress code spectrum.

How they fit

Order your everyday UK size. The Hill runs true to size. Order the UK size you wear in most lace-up shoes or boots.

Snug at first is correct. The calf leather lining and structured Chelsea last will loosen slightly with wear. A snug but not uncomfortable fit on first wearing is expected and normal.

Wide forefoot or high instep? The Hill has a fairly neat toe box. If you carry width across the forefoot or have a high instep, consider ordering the next full size up: UK 8 rather than UK 7, for example.

All sizes are full UK sizes; we do not stock half sizes. If your everyday size in other brands is a half size, for example a UK 9.5, choose the full size above (UK 10). Free 30-day UK returns mean you can exchange if the fit needs adjusting.

Care Instructions

Before first wear. Apply a suede protector spray evenly across the entire upper to create a barrier against moisture and staining. Reapply every few weeks or after cleaning.

After each wear. Brush gently with a suede brush in one direction to restore the nap and remove surface dust. For stubborn marks, use a suede eraser with light pressure. Never use wax polish, cream, or leather conditioner; these will damage the texture and darken the suede permanently.

If the suede gets wet. Blot excess moisture with a clean cloth, do not rub. Stuff loosely with newspaper and allow to dry naturally at room temperature. Once dry, brush to restore the nap.

Storage and rotation. Insert cedar shoe trees after each wear to absorb moisture and maintain the boot's shape. Store away from direct heat and sunlight, which can fade and dry out suede.
