The Hogarth is a full brogue Derby in polished calf leather, with traditional long-wing detailing and a stitched welt.

Available in Reef and Black. A 4-eyelet open-lace construction suits both business suits and smart-casual combinations with equal ease.

When to wear them

Office and business wear. The Hogarth in Black sits naturally alongside a dark business suit or tailored trousers. The Reef colourway works well with mid-grey or navy suiting where a little contrast is welcome.

Weekends and casual. Paired with dark denim or moleskin trousers, either colourway carries the full brogue detailing into relaxed weekend dress without effort.

Formal events. Appropriate for lounge-suit weddings, smart dinners, and occasions where a tweed or country jacket is the order of the day.

Not formal enough for. Black tie, morning dress, or any occasion where a plain Oxford cap-toe is the expected choice. Full brogue detailing is considered too casual for very formal ceremony dress.

How they fit

Order your everyday UK size. The Hogarth runs true to size. Order the same UK size you wear in most other shoes.

Snug at first is correct. The full leather lining will ease with wear. A firm fit from the outset is preferable to excess room that will not correct itself.

Wide forefoot or high instep? If you carry additional width or volume in the foot, consider the full size above for extra room.

All sizes are full UK sizes — we do not stock half sizes. If you normally wear a half size in other brands — for example a UK 9.5 — choose the full size above (UK 10).

Care Instructions

After each wear. Brush with a horsehair brush to remove surface dust and dirt from the leather grain and brogue perforations.

Every 3–4 wears. Wipe down with a slightly damp cloth and allow to dry naturally at room temperature — never use direct heat. Apply a thin layer of leather conditioner, then polish with a colour-matched wax polish (JW Premium Wax Polish is recommended) using small circular motions. Allow to haze for 10 minutes, then buff with a horsehair brush and soft cloth for shine.

Storage and rotation. Insert cedar shoe trees immediately after wearing to absorb moisture, hold shape, and prevent creasing. Rotate your shoes and allow at least 24 hours between wears.

What materials are used?

Our shoes are crafted using full-grain calf leather from heritage tanneries, with natural calf leather linings for breathability. Soles are high-grade studded rubber with leather detailing, and insoles feature cushioned leather footbeds with memory support.

How should I care for my shoes?

Quality leather improves with age when properly maintained. Clean regularly with a soft brush, condition every few weeks with leather cream, and protect with water-resistant spray before first wear. Store with cedar shoe trees and rotate between pairs. Visit our Shoe Care Guide for detailed instructions.
