John White Impregnable Band
We’re putting the band back together!
John White was a patron of the musical arts.
The Impregnable Band dates back to at least August 1942, when it’s mentioned in the Rushden Echo and Argus after performing at the John White Lime Street factory. Later, in 1953, the John White Footwear Band was formed from the UK’s most promising brass instrumentalists and led by noted brass conductor Mr George Thompson (later MBE). The band went on to take third place at the 1954 British Open held at Manchester’s Belle Vue and second place in 1955.
